l.a.Eyeworks was founded on September 9, 1979, when Barbara McReynolds and Gai Gherardi opened a small shop on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. Created to challenge conventional eyewear design, the company has grown into a privately owned brand with two Los Angeles stores and a wholesale business distributing its frames to independent opticians worldwide.
